Introduction

Construction and infra projects can have an effect on the environment. For example, the brickwork of buildings and so on. Monitoring these effects via vibration and deformation measurements provides precise information online. With 25 years’ national and international experience, BBCI BV provides the construction and civil engineering experience you require, during and after a construction or infra project.

Vibration Prediction

Vibrations can cause damage to the environment and clients need to be informed in advance of the risks posed by any works.

Deformation Measurements

Deformation measurements are carried out to determine the height of buildings or objects in the vicinity of the construction project.

Risk Assessment

A risk assessment determines the potential risks to the environment and infrastructure as a result of planned construction work or an infrastructural project. BBCI BV experts will assess the potential consequences for adjacent properties and objects. Subsequently, a plan is drawn up to determine the criteria for negation or control of potential risks. It is important that BBCI BV experts are involved at an early stage of the planning of a construction or infra project to prevent any damage, delays and frustrations for all parties involved.

Monitoring Plan

The monitoring plan encompasses the potential effect of the works as identified by a risk assessment and the establishment of limits, the extent of measurements, and production of a structural survey. The objective of the monitoring plan is to inform all parties involved of the criteria that need to be met to keep the potential risks posed by the impact of the project to a minimum.

Vibration Prediction (Vibration Prognosis)

Vibrations can cause damage to the environment and clients need to be informed in advance of the risks posed by any works. Piling, the installation of sheet pile walls and suchlike, are activities that create a need for clients to commission a vibration prediction report. We calculate the vibration prediction on the basis of existing benchmarks, following which analysis takes place with the client. If desired, we can advise clients on control measures. These control measures are intended to prevent or minimise potential damage to the environment.

Precision Deformation Measurements (PDM) (Z measurement)

Deformation measurements are carried out to determine the height of buildings or objects in the vicinity of the construction project. The height is determined by means of a baseline measurement and a precise deformation measurement identifies any discrepancy in height.

Repeat measurements can be scaled up or reduced depending on the type of works or the results. A monitoring plan serves as the foundation for the application of deformation measurements. Measuring bolts and reference bolts are used to provide precise results. Based on the results, BBCI BV can offer advice to prevent damage.

Vibration measurement

The vibrations created by driving sheet pile walls, earthworks, piling and demolition works and high wheel loads of heavy vehicles can cause potential damage to existing buildings and objects. If a vibration measurement is carried out for these works and established criteria are met, the risk of damage, excluding damage caused by consolidation, is virtually negated.

BBCI BV uses Vibra Plus measuring systems and measurements are conducted according to qualitative guidelines.

Structural survey

Earthworks, high wheel loads of heavy vehicles, piling works and driving of sheet pile walls can have an impact on the environment. In determining potential liability, it is important that the condition of the environment be carefully documented before commencement of construction projects to prevent potential conflicts regarding existing defects. BBCI BV photographs defects to buildings and objects in the immediate vicinity of projects and captures these in a report. In the event of damage or complaints, the report serves as the basis for settling potential claims. BBCI BV experts are registered with NIVRE (The Dutch Institute Registry of Experts), thus the quality, probity and ability of the reports to withstand legal scrutiny is guaranteed on an independent and professional level.

About BBCI BV

Subsidence to homes, cracks in the walls of shop premises, fluctuating ground water, or damaged drains. These can all be potential consequences of poor construction or infrastructural work. Therefore, it is important that all possible preventative measures are taken in planning and carrying out complex works such as installation of drains, excavation, or construction of an object by means of sheet pile walls or piling. If potential risks are identified, these need to be prevented. It is also important for clients, construction companies, local authorities and the residential and working environment to be fully apprised of the potential consequences of a construction project. In addition, potential risks to the environment must be managed professionally.

BBCI BV has all these specialisms in house and provides professional support during and after construction projects. For example, conducting risk assessments, various measurements, structural surveys and the provision of specialist implementation advice. Within this highly dynamic and competitive market, BBCI BV remains client-focused and flexible, with quality being the priority, regardless of the size of the project,

BBCI BV has 25 years of experience in construction and civil engineering inspections. BBCI BV is able to offer the highest standards of service to current and future clients on the basis of the knowledge and experience acquired during a large number of diverse projects. BBCI BV experts are registered with NIVRE (The Dutch Institute Registry of Experts), thus the quality and probity of reports is guaranteed on a professional level. In addition, all processes within the organisation are ISO 90001 compliant and both BBCI BV and its experts are VCA (Health, Safety and Environment checklist for contractors) certified.
